Stereoscopic ambrotype, two portraits side by side. Image depicts a woman with two childen, a maid stands in the background, they are in a garden. The figures are blurred, the background appears in focus. The glass plate currently sits on top of a piece of black silk textile, adhered to card, underneath is a cut sheet of paper. The cut sheet is a form which could be sent off to receive a book, the text reads: 'Kelly's Handbook, containing about twenty thousand names of the Titled, Landed and Official Classes. William Henry Stratton has stamped his address on the reverse: StrattonWm.Henry, 133 Kenningtn.rd. S.E. Made in the 1850s and 1860s by William Henry Stratton, an amateur photographer who lived in South London.
