Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1923
Memory Studies 1
Vera Wheeler's 'Memory studies' sketchbooks were made while she was a student at the Royal College of Art during the 1920s. She recorded the people she remembered seeing as she travelled the city by train, bus and on foot. Wheeler paid particular attention to children, maids and shop girls. Posture, gestures and clothing are lovingly detailed. Each sketch is annotated with a comment or location.
