Drawing from the Life at the Royal Academy, Somerset House
This plate from the 'Microcosm of London' (published by Rudolph Ackermann's Repository of Arts) was engraved by John Bluck. The figures were drawn by Thomas Rowlandson and the architecture by Augustus Pugin. It depicts the life drawing class of the Royal Academy at Somerset House. A man models nude for the students who are arranged around him on two tiers of benches. Busts and small statues are arranged on shelves around the room. (GAC inventory no.0/192).
