Paintings, Prints & Drawings — C. 1746
Execution of the rebels on Kennington Common in the year 1746
Engraving depicting the execution of the Jacobite rebels on Kennington Common in year 1746.
This is presumably based on the Samuel Wale's design (British Museum 1863,0214.778) drawn for engraving in the Tyburn Chronicle, vol.IV, p.309. That version shows one of the rebels being dissected on a table in the foreground (instead of the bonfire) with body parts underneath.
