Newgate
Etching of Newgate, Chamberlain's Gate. Part of the inscription on either side is missing due to the print being 'cut out'. View of Newgate Prison gate, with the inscription 'Chamberlain's Gate, a most miserable Dungeon was rebuilt by Richard Whittington, in the style here represented.....' The gate had been demolished when the print was published.
