Elinour Rummin, The famous Ale-wife of England
Elinour Rummin "When Skelton wore the Lawrell Crowne / My Ale put all the Ale-wives downe." Elinour Rummin (or Rummynge, etc) was a character in a poem ("The Tunnyng of Elinour Rummyng") by John Skelton, 1460 -1529, recognised by Oxford & Cambridge universities as poet laureate. The print is of an old woodcut (c16th?) but the typography suggests it comes from a later reprint.
