Grown Men taught to Dance / Grown Ladies taught to Dance
The images on this handkerchief satirise the fashion for dancing lessons in the French style, which was considered by critics to be effeminate. In both of the central scenes, men are shown learning how to dance, while dressed in tight-fitting 'Macaroni' fashions of the period.
