Overview of the building in Green Park, built to celebrate the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle, 1749. The huge temporary structure was erected in the northern part of St James's Park, now Green Park, for the firework display, organised by the famous Italian pyrotechnist Giovanni Niccolo Servandoni in collaboration with the Royal Laboratory at Woolwich. Large numbers of souvenir prints were produced and the event is now best known for Handel's specially composed 'Music for the Royal Fireworks. The view is from the west and buildings on Piccadilly are shown in the background on the left.
