Fairburn's Travelling Handkerchiefs
Handkerchief maps were popular with 18th and 19th century gentlemen, as they were more convenient to carry than paper maps. They could be used as a reference as well as a fashion item. This handkerchief is printed with a map of England and Wales, and an allegorical scene in which a merchant recruits a boy to join his ship.
