Princess Charlotte of Wales
This may be a mourning handkerchief. Princess Charlotte was the only child of the Prince Regent (later King George IV) and his estranged wife, Caroline of Brunswick. She was popular with the public and was expected to reign as queen eventually. In 1817, her early death in childbirth, at the age of just 21, prompted an outpouring of public grief.
