Jerkin
Buff leather jerkin with sharply pointed waist. Skirt of small tassets and leather 'pickadils' at armholes. Centre front opening with eyelets and a leather lace. The leather is very stiff and the sewing is of a poor quality.
Although this jerkin was dated to the late 16th century when it was acquired by the Museum of London in 1957, the accuracy of that date is in question, with some researchers believing the jerkin may be a late 19th century (or later) reproduction or theatrical costume.
