Shoe

Girl's shoe. White leather upper. Leather heel and sole. Upper trimmed with applied yellow silk braid around the upper edges, across the vamp, and vertically around the heel; double row strip of braid centre front with strip at right angles centre front and back, giving striped effect. Blunt point toe (1.3 cm square). Louis heel, covered in red leather. Straight sole continues up heel breast; worn; red edge finish (?); right walked badly on upper. Brown suede rand (?), possibly originally red, off-white (cream) stitched (6 stitches per 2.5 cm). Long quarters extending into flared tongue; straight side seams to heel breast; quarters extended into straps, to tie; pair of holes in tongue leaving small open sides; lace missing; one tie hole broken. White leather side linings almost to back seam. Brown leather insole. Toe puff brown leather. Historic shoe lace not present - contemporary ribbon in place instead (potentially for display or conservation).
