Case, parasol-whip case
Parasol-whip case made of carved ivory lined with off-white velvet. The ivory has been hollowed out to make a tube in which the parasol-whip can stand. It has two rectangular projecting 'bars' carved on the back presumably to attach it to a support in the carriage. The base of the holder is cup-shaped and has been carved with thistles and thistle leaves; the shaft of the holder has been carved with incised parallel vertical lines, and with a crown and monogram of intertwined 'L's carved in relief in the middle on the opposite side to the 'bars'; the open end of the holder is carved with a band of roses with a band of palmettes below.
