Boot, trench boot
Craig and Davies of Sackville Street made these leather trench boots for the donor, Brigadier Dudley Clarke, in 1916. Brigadier Clarke wore them in France and Mesopotamia when serving in World War I. A good pair of boots was invaluable in the trenches.
The knee-length boots have rounded toes and are seamed along the centre line from the toe. The legs have back straps, and lace up the centre front through 12 pairs of eyelet holes. The boots are lined with leather.
