Glove
One piece gauntlet glove of soft grey (originally cream?) kid or lambskin dressed flesh-side out. Cut with slight flare in lower section of outer (little finger) edge, which is left open for depth of gauntlet (9 cm). Finger seams continued for 4.5 cm down back as decorative feature. Backed with deep pink silk (faded to cream), visible through punched decoration, which is turned to front to bind lower edge. This and side slits are trimmed with narrow (1 cm) fringe of silver thread bound with cream silk. Gauntlet decorated with broad border outling lower edge and side slits on back only; defined by couched lengths of very narrow (3 mm) silver-gilt braid, also used to form simple pattern, within border, of looping line enclosing stylised flowers. Back of glove further decorated with three stylised plants extending upwards into centre. Diamond and heart-shaped 'flowers' filled with inserted pieces of red satin. Border also elaborated with punched circles and triangles through which deep pink lining is visible.
