Trousers
Worn by Mr Herbert Lyon as Pearly King of Shoreditch; the suit was decorated by his wife; when the Lyons moved to Ongar they were adopted as the local pearlies and last wore their costumes in Ongar for the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977. Mr Lyon was a chimney sweep. There is a photograph of Mr & Mrs Lyon in their costumes in the Museum of London archive
