Waistcoat
Men's waistcoat of cotton, probably Indian, with a white ground printed with sprigs and a border design of flowers and tendrils outlined with silver tambour work. The waistcoat fastens at the front with silk and metal thread covered buttons. The fronts are lined with silk, the back is made of fustian. The fronts have been slightly shortened - covering a line of silk embroidery meant to indicate the base of the pocket flap. There are no visible selvages so no possibility of looking for blue threads or their absence. Blue threads would indicate the fabric was produced in Britain.
