Glove
These Limerick or chicken skin gloves reveal the plumpness of Princess Charlotte's fingers and arms. They were always worn with dinner and evening dresses, and were usually of the finest kid. The yellow 'chicken skin' gloves were made from the thin, but still strong, skin of unborn calves. 'Chicken skin' gloves were renowned for fitting in a walnut shell. See also 74.100/17a-b. Included in the 'In Royal Fashion' exhibition, 20 May - 23 November 1997, illustrated page 71.
