Outside: satin and cannellé [tobine] strips from a dress silk of 1760s in blue, red, white and black, which can be compared with samples in T.375-1972 from Warner Archive and T.373-1972, French order book 1763, but no samples precisely similar. Inside: silk striped with blue satin and white taffeta with satin spots. This can be compared with samples dating from 1779 and 1784 see Silk Designs nos. 313 and 320. The whole is lined with undatable spotted taffeta. Condition: The outside is dirty.
