West India Docks: The American barquentine 'E. R. Stirling' lying dismasted in the middle of the dock basin in January, 1928.
The ship was badly damaged in a hurrcane off the Cape Verde islands in September, 1927. Her chief officer was badly injured trying to secure the rigging and died a few days later. The barquentine was broken up in London a few months later.
