Fashion — 1971-1973
Dress
The dress was displayed in the exhibition 'Mary Quant's London' held at the London Museum, Kensington Palace, 29 November 1973 - 30 June 1974. In the catalogue it was described as a 'long white calico dress with very deep frilled neckline edged with calico lace, frilled sleeves and pin-tucking on the bodice and sleeves and around the hem'.
Calico is often used to make a 'toile', a model of a garment, rather than the actual garment itself. The French word 'toile' refers to cloth.
