Fashion — 1828-1830
Dress
Women's dress of white cotton from around 1830. The bodice has net inserts both front and back, as well as whitework embroidery. The hem is decorated with tucks, net insertions and embroidery.
Sleeves became very wide in around 1835. This dress is probably from that period or just before.
It was bequeathed to the museum by Norah Waugh who taught the history and making of historical costume in the Theatre Department of the Central School of Art and Design in London. She published several books on pattern cutting.
