Skirt
A skirt suit, which with its maxi length and matching paisley print blouse, is typical of the designs of the 1970s. Barbara Hulanicki's primary palette consisted of dark colours (mauves, browns, plums, rusts). They were termed ‘Auntie colours’, and were inspired by the tastes of Hulanicki's Aunt Sophie. Hulanicki felt they looked good in England's grey light and would later decribe these colours as 'engrained in me', even though she had hated them as a child.
