Bodice
During the 1930s London couturiers reformulated the suit, creating a versatile and feminine garment chic enough to wear in London but sufficiently sporty and understated for smart country events. This suit is unlabelled but the subtle use of stripes is typical of several London designers including Peter Russell and Victor Stiebel.
Thes semi-fitted blouse with front opening was worn with the jacket and skirt. The seperate yoke has a false pocket flap on each side with a covered button attached. The front opening has eight covered button and corresponding buttonholes with a pointed turn-down collar and revers. The front shoulders and back collar have darts. The long sleeves have narrow extended cuffs fastened with covered button cufflinks.
