Skirt, suit skirt
During the 1930s London couturiers reformulated the suit, creating a versatile and feminine garment chic enough to wear in London but sufficiently sporty and understated for smart country events. This suit is unlabelled but the subtle use of stripes is typical of several London designers including Peter Russell and Victor Stiebel.
The straight skirt is made of diagonally striped beige and brown wool with a narrow kick pleat at the side seam. The inside of the waistband is lined with black grosgrain fastened with two sets of hooks and eyes.
