Printed Ephemera — 1837-1840
Mr Ducrow as the Windsor Post Boy
Souvenir plate engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr Ducrow in the role of The Windsor Post Boy. The engraving shows the actor standing astride two galloping horses jumping a fence. The portrait is signed by both the artist and the engraver. 'W.Cooking del' probably refers to the artist and 'R.Lloyd.sculp.' probably refers to Robert Lloyd the engraver. Such sheets would have been sold plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
