Printed Ephemera — 2011-03
Placard
This placard was carried on the March for the Alternative demonstration held in London on 26 March 2011. The demonstration was organised by the Trade Union Congress as a protest at the government's public spending cuts and attracted around half a million marchers.
The slogan 'Save EMA' is a reference to the Coalition government's scrapping of the Education Maintenance Allowance in England. The EMA provided financial support to young people from low-income backgrounds so they could stay on in full-time education.
