Fashion — 2011
Banner
Jo and Jeff Coupe, a former probation officer and teacher from Rugby, made this banner for the 'March for the Alternative' on 26 March 2011. They travelled to London by train for the event which was organised under the auspices of the Trade Union Congress to oppose the Coalition government's public sector spending cuts.
The activist couple were accompanied by their son who is a local government worker and a member of the Unison trade union. The banner itself is a pun on their name ('Coupes' means cuts in French) and was hand-stitched by Jo Coupe.
