Lithography student at Morley College Art Centre
Lithography student at Morley College in Lambeth. Morley College was established in 1880 by Emma Morley when she opened the Royal Victoria Coffee and Music Hall (in what is now the Old Vi Theatre). Lectures and evening classes quickly followed and by the 1920s the College moved to its current location in Westminster Bridge Road. This student is learning about the traditional lithography process in which a smooth stone is drawn on in a material such as wax. This student can be seen rolling printing ink onto the image. The stone and paper are then run through a printing press; the pressure of which transfers the ink from the stone to the paper.
