Outside maths class at the Dick Sheppard school
A maths class being held outside on the grass at the Dick Sheppard school, Lambeth. This lesson was about binary operations and the teacher was using dance as an example of group structure, identity and associativity for the students. The Dick Sheppard School was located in Tulse Hill and was named after the Anglican vicar who transformed the St Martin In The Fields Church into a centre for those in need. Although originally a girls school from 1977 it became co-educational as was so until it closed in 1994.
