St Dunstans in the East Church
St Dunstan’s in the East Church in the City of London. A church was originally built on this site in 1100 with the south aisle being added in 1391 and the steeple in 1695. In 1817 the church was dismantled and rebuilt after the roof was found to have caused irreparable damage. The church was severely damaged during the bombing of London in the Second World War and has never reopened as a church. Instead the ruins were made into a public garden which opened in 1971.
