Alliance Assurance Company Limited
The Alliance Assurance Company was an insurance company founded in 1824 by Nathan Mayer Rothschild and Moses Montefiore as the Alliance Marine Assurance Company. In 1959 the company merged with another insurance firm The Sun to become Sun Assurance and then in 1996 Sun Assurance merged with Royal Insurance to become Royal and Sun Insurance. Capel Court where the insurance company was based was also home to the London Stock Exchange and was near to the Bank of England.
