Dress
Green plain weave cotton dress with printed floral patterns. The green is created by a two process indigo base then overdyed with a yellow to create green which has taken unevenly. Pattern block and resist [?] printed. Round low neck with ruching and gathering created by three drawstrings, leaving a frilled edge. High waistline falling smooth in front, pleated at sides, cartridge pleated behind into fullness and a train. Elbow length straight sleeves. Separate decorative ruching around low scoop neckline at back. Narrow back piece leaves room for deep set in arm scye at back. Skirt cut in four panels, arranged with one for front and three for back with two inverted 'V' panels inserted almost up to high waist level. Gathering of skirt into waistband - front: small gathers; sides: box pleats; centre back: very small gathers. Arrangement of tapes: exterior: two at centre back; interior: two at centre back. Small interior bustle (no bustle but original pin in back). Front fastening with button and buttonhole at shoulders.
