Hat, bowler hat
Gey felt bowler hat by Vivienne Westwood, part of the Buffalo Girls (Nostalgia of Mud) collection, autum/winter 1982-83. Westwood was inspired by the traditional costume of Peruvian women which includes a bowler hat.
Kim Philpotts bought this hat at the Nostalgia of Mud Shop in St Christophers Place. She lent it to a friend for a fancy dress party at Christmas 1982. The friend dressed up as Boy George whereas Kim went as Adam Ant.
Philpotts donated more than 80 items of clothing from the 1980s and 1990s to the Museum of London.
