Archaeology — 1770-1775
Coin
Half penny coin of George III, found on an archaeological excavation on the site of Winchester Palace on Clink Street in Southwark. King George III ruled Britain from 1760 to 1820. During his reign America gained its independence from Britain. In his last years George III became too ill to perform his duties so his son (later George IV) ruled in his place as Prince Regent.
