Ali Ismail, Manor Garden allotment holder
Colour pigment photographic print of Ali Ismail, a plotholder at the Manor Garden Allotments in Hackney Wick, 2007. The allotments were established in 1900 when the director of Barings Bank donated small plots of land to local people for them to grow their own vegetables. The plotholders were evicted when the land was cleared to make way for the Olympic Park. This photograph was taken as part of a project to document the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games prior to its closure for redevelopment in July 2007.
