Anti-London 2012 banner on Forman's smoked salmon factory on the corner of Marshgate Lane and Knob's Hill Road
Colour pigment photographic print showing a banner with the slogan '2012 - Killing Local Businesses' mounted on Forman's smoked salmon factory on the corner of Marshgate Lane and Knob's Hill Road near Stratford, 2005. The banner was displayed in protest against the impact of the forthcoming Olympic Games on local people and businesses. Established in Stepney in 1905, H. Forman and Son were the last of several historic salmon smokeries developed in the Jewish East End. They were to be relocated to make way for the Games, and eventually a new factory was built adjacent to the Olympic Park. This photograph was taken as part of a project to document the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games prior to its closure for redevelopment in July 2007.
