The Celestial Church, Marshgate Lane
Colour pigment photographic print showing the shuttered entrance to the Celestial Church in Marshgate Lane, Stratford, 2006. This was one of the parish churches of the Celestial Church of Christ, which was founded in Benin in 1947 by Samuel Bilehou Joseph Oshaffa. Its international headquarters are in Nigeria. Another sign on the building refers to the Glory Life Church, giving times of services, bible studies and prayer meetings. This photograph was taken as part of a project to document the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games prior to its closure for redevelopment in July 2007.
