Hanging, bed hanging
One of three hangings in linen and cotton twill, embroidered in polychrome worsted thread in fine chain stitch with motifs of trees, flowers, animals, birds, insects, etc. The embroidered plants and animals include snakes, peacocks, an oak tree, carnations, grapevine, sunflower, a fox, snails, caterpillars, moths, beetles, squirrels, crickets, parrot, jungle fowl, possibly birds of paradise, dragonfly, peas, a rabbit, deer, a robin. Possible religious interpretation? Imperfections: mend, darning.
