Old Billingsgate Walk
Crispin Hughes took this photograph of Old Billingsgate Walk. It is one in a series of 18 photographs of London’s bridges and piers which were shown in the display ‘Unquiet Thames’ at Museum of London Docklands in 2006.
Each image records a 360° view, which is made up of eight separate images digitally stitched together. They show the underside of structures and the foreshore, capturing a seldom seen landscape between the tides. Hughes said they depict ‘a strange amphibious architecture which I find very beautiful and evocative’.
