Photography — 2006-11
Photograph, pigment print
M Laurier and Sons supplied scaffolders’ safety netting. It had been on the same site since the mid 1950s and worked mostly in the West End, City and Docklands. In an Evening Standard article in November 2006, the owner commented that the compensation awarded to them by the London Development Agency to move the firm was not sufficient for them to relocate to a comparable location.
Marion Davies worked in partnership with another photographer, Debra Rapp, on a detailed photographic survey of businesses in the Olympic area prior to their closure in July 2007. The London Development Agency served compulsory purchase orders on 280 businesses in order to redevelop the site for the 2012 Olympic Games.
