Dress fragment, bodice piece
The dress has been cut up before arriving at the museum by an amateur dramatic company and now comprises a bodice and unpicked bodice and skirt sections.
Unpicked crescent shaped lower front piece from bodice of incomplete dress of sky blue Spitalfields silk. The dress is 1780s construction reusing a 1758-62 Spitalfields woven silk designed by Batchelor, Ham & Perigal (Clare Browne, V&A).
