Shoe
Pair of woman's shoes dating from the 1720s. The upper and heel cover are of light blue and white silk brocade in a floral motif, worn away in places. Upper edges, latchets, tongue, back and side seams are trimmed with light blue silk braid. A very pointed toe, slightly upturned, reinforced slight overhang. Louis heel, 57 mm high and medium width. Straight leather sole; worn; roughened, probably for indoor use. The sole is damaged at heel breast on one shoe. White kid rand, white stitching. The vamp extends into a medium pieced tongue; the quarters extend into latchets; straps pieced; side seams have a double row of stitching on each edge. The shoes' lining is yellow linen with a white kid side-lining and a brown leather insole.
