A crockery stall at Petticoat Lane market
From behind the stall, Henry Grant has photographed the crockery on display and visitors to Petticoat Lane market. He has the viewpoint of the market trader, who can be seen on the far right. Nearby, a stall selling clothes for children can be seen.
The street market, which continues today, dates back to the 17th century and is thought to be named after the petticoats on sale there. Located in the Spitalfields area of the East End, the market continues to sell a range of collectables and second-hand goods.
