Queen Elizabth Hall, Southbank Centre
This photograph is of the Queen Elizabeth Hall (QEH), which is now part of the Southbank Centre arts complex. The Centre grew from the Festival of Britain exhibition which was held on the southbank of the Thames in 1951. The QEH stands on the site of a former Shot Tower built as part of a lead works in 1826. As well as the main concert hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall also contains two smaller venues, the Purcell Room and The Front Room.
