Ridley Road Bagel Shop and operatives
The Ridley Bagel Shop in Ridley Road, Dalston, Hackney, January 1994. In the early 20th century Ridley Road was at the centre of London's Jewish community, but later became more diverse as Asian, Greek, Turkish and West Indian migrants settled in the area. From the series 'London After Dark', through which Delaney documented London's streets on a personal exploration of the city. Delaney's choice of architecture and urban landscapes are lit in high contrast by the moonlight and available artificial light on the street and from interiors.
