Spitfire fundraising in Streatham High Road during the Blitz
A 'diamond merchant' gives up his shop to raise funds for the financing of Spitfire planes and the RAF. Rodger was a war correspondent for the American Life magazine during the London Blitz in 1940. Rather than cover the newsworthy events, he concentrated on capturing the impact of the bombing on everyday life as Londoners adjusted to the war around them.
