The Arms Names & Titles of All the Peers of England to the Year 1768 together with ye Arms of Their Royal Highnesses ye Dukes of Gloucester & Cumberland
Souvenir handkerchief of white linen printed in red with a continuous border of lines and a ribbon design enclosing a central area containing the arms and names of 174 English peers and two royal dukes with the inscrpitons: "The Arms Names & Titled of All the Peers of England to the Year 1768 together with ye Arms of Their Royal Highnesses ye Dukes of Gloucester & Cumberland" and the names of the engravers and produces, Peele & Simpson Inv. R. D---- Exec. (part of handkerchief missing) and D. Richard, sculp.
The handkerchief was published by Peele and Simpson, when drapers in Cheapside. Included are the arms of Horatio, Lord Walpole, nephew of Horace Walpole, the well-known eighteenth century author. Handkerchiefs such as this could well have been used for the educational purposes decried by 'Punch'.
There is an identical handkerchief in the V&A museum, accession number T66-1946.
