Covent Garden Market
A view of Covent Garden market capturing movement of people and activities at a time when many photographers, limited by the technology of the day, only recorded motion as a ghostly blur, if at all. In order to obtain a fast enough shutter speed, a very small camera had to be used to arrest motion here. Blanchard was a pioneer for making photographs that recorded an extraordinary amount of life and action.
