Crystal Palace, Sydenham, Kent
The Crystal Palace, Sydenham, Bromley, c. 1890. A view of the building and surrounding gardens. The Crystal Palace was originally erected in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition in 1851. It was rebuilt at Sydenham in 1852-1854 and became the world's first theme park, offering education, entertainment and sport. Sadly, it was completely destroyed by fire in 1936.
